Getting started

Connect in four steps

01

Check your Wi-Fi

Connect your iPhone and Sky Q box to the same trusted home network.

02

Allow Local Network access

When iOS asks, allow Sofa Remote to find compatible boxes on your network.

03

Find your box

Open Sofa Remote, choose Auto-detect and select your verified Sky Q main or Mini box.

04

Test the connection

Run the connection test, then open the remote when the status shows Connected.

Troubleshooting

If your box isn’t found

Confirm both devices are on the same network

Guest Wi-Fi and network isolation can prevent devices from seeing each other. Move the iPhone onto the same main Wi-Fi network as the Sky Q box.

Check Local Network permission

On your iPhone, open Settings, find Sofa Remote and make sure Local Network access is enabled.

Try the manual address

If automatic discovery does not find the box, enter its private IP address in Sofa Remote settings and run Test & Save.

Restart the connection

Close and reopen Sofa Remote. If necessary, restart the Sky Q box and your home router, then run discovery again.

Compatibility

Designed for Sky Q satellite boxes

Supported
Sky Q main boxes and Sky Q Mini boxes.

Not supported
Sky Stream and Sky Glass.

Purchases

Restore your lifetime unlock

Open Sofa Remote’s purchase screen and select Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account that originally bought the lifetime unlock. Apple handles the transaction and restoration process.

If restoration still fails, email support and include the app version and a redacted diagnostics report. Never send payment-card details, passwords or unredacted device identifiers.

Still stuck?

We’ll help you get Sofa Remote connected.
